Bryce, Zion & North Rim
Yesterday's travels can be described in three words: "Airline F***ing Hell". The flights went OK. But when Duane and I got to Las Vegas, our baggage was nowhere in sight. Not only couldn't we find our bags; we couldn't find anyone from the airline to track them for us. I won't get into all the details here. But, I won't fly on Frontier Airlines again. Ever. We eventually got to St George very late on Saturday night with our bags. Jean, Bob, Ken and Dave had gone to bed. We got a late start this morning leaving St. George at 10:30 a.m. Most of today's ride was gradual climbs with occasional short descents. The weather was sunny and very hot. After Hurricane the ride got very scenic.
We passed through the town of Virgin, which inspired many jokes. We met a large group from the Bonneville Bicycle Touring Club from the Salt Lake City area. They invited us to share their large group camp about 1/2 mile from the entrance to Zion National Park. There is also a large group from Adventure Cycling here also. The group decided they wanted Mexican food. So we went to a place called Oscars. I had Chicken Enchiladas and a Polygamy Porter. The slogan for this beer is "Why have just one". Welcome to Utah.
