Utah & Colorado MTB Trip
Day 7 Uncompaghre Plateau

We awoke to another gorgeous day. At breakfast, our guides announced the group was very strong. Therefore, we would try to cover 50 miles today. The extra distance would give us a half a day to rest tomorrow before our climb up John Brown Canyon the following day.

Lasal Mountains
Our first glimpse of the LaSal Mountains.
The grades were very gentle. This made the distance easier. The morning was uneventful. The terrain was mostly wooded (pines and aspens) with a few overlooks.

We stopped for lunch at an overlook. Here we got our first glimpse of the LaSal mountains. Our plan was to descend off the Plateau and climb John Brown Canyon into the LaSal mountains. As you will read on DAY 9, this was not to be.

Our Guides
Our guides Steve and Suzanne.
After lunch we continued our ride. I saw another deer. A, large doe, ran across the road in front of me as I descended a small hill.

We arrived at another National Forest campground. This campground was full of bow hunters. Our guides found another campsite about a mile away.

The total mileage for the day was 54 miles.

Everyone was tired from the long ride. We enjoyed BBQ chicken for dinner.
